How to save fuel when using a semi-trailer?

The fuel saving of driving a trailer is achieved through every correct operation and every reasonable measure taken by the driver. Common methods of driving a trailer to save fuel are:

Slow acceleration. The car starts in low gear and then accelerates slowly. Compared with the method of rapid acceleration, it saves a lot of fuel when reaching the same medium speed. For cars driving in the city, the fuel saving of slow acceleration is considerable.

Use economic speed. When the car is at economic speed, it is a state of less wear and tear and low fuel consumption, which saves money. However, driving at economic speed will affect transportation productivity, so in actual production, cars often drive at a medium speed slightly higher than the economic speed, and the economic effect will be better.

Light feet and fast hands. Light feet and fast hands mean that the foot should step on the accelerator lightly and slowly, and the hand should shift gears quickly and in time. Lightly pressing the accelerator can save fuel, mainly because there are acceleration devices and enrichment devices in general carburetors. If you press the accelerator pedal hard, the acceleration devices and enrichment devices will work and "extra" fuel will be supplied, resulting in increased fuel consumption. If you suddenly lift the accelerator, the engine speed will suddenly drop, which will play a pulling role, offset part of the driving inertia, and increase fuel consumption.

Correct use of brakes. Under the premise of ensuring safety, using brakes as little as possible is also an effective measure to save fuel. The method of "slipping instead of braking" by lifting the accelerator in advance to slow down the car naturally can not only save fuel, but also reduce the wear of mechanical parts.

No overspeeding in low gear, no slowing in high gear. On the same road and at a certain speed, although the power output of the engine is the same, the lower the gear, the greater the reserve power, the lower the engine load rate, and the higher the effective fuel consumption rate. The situation is just the opposite when using high gear.

Safe gliding. Sliding can be divided into acceleration gliding, deceleration gliding and downhill gliding. When coasting, the engine is usually idling, the gear lever is in neutral, and the engine consumes very little fuel. But you must pay attention to safety.

Maintain a sufficient distance from the car behind. This way you can use less braking, which is both safer and more fuel-efficient.
